Another waiting game….
Wed: Update
The on-going fault still continues. But it seems things are now getting somewhere…
“Thank you for your update. We’ve restarted the equipment into the exchange and started a 24 hour analysis on the line. Please do not power off the router for that period. The issue is not with the link between you and the exchange, and it is not physical. The issue is with the logical (IP etc.) connection. After the analysis we cold try the connection with a dynamic IP and if possible with a different Static one. But for the moment we would like to ask you for the time that the analysis will take. Once again we apologize for all the inconvenience caused. Best regards, **** Supervisor”
So I wonder…will they contact me tomorrow with the results? HAHA!

Well Tuesday came and router did arrive. Weird that one PC started to stream just perfectly. I thought, “at last…it works”. But NO!!!! Too good to be true. Wasn’t long before the errors came again.
Oh well..back to square one and time to call the ISP….AGAIN!
DHL Tracking
So it’s Tuesday and the day for the arrival of the replacement Modem/Router…..Time to track where it is…
BUT!!!!!
Pffft! Get the link from ISP to track my new router and what do I see on the link? Grrr!!! Update on the router arriving will need to be later I guess! lol

OMG!!!! Another day and another looong struggle!

Pissed off!
I am now awaiting a replacement Router from the ISP which should be here on Tuesday. Fingers crossed this last hardware replacement will sort the issues.
Until then, I am afraid I cannot guarantee the music player or indeed gigs will go ahead. As it stands, there is still a problem. So please do accept my apologies to those who normally listen in via the website, or indeed those who come to my gigs. I shall send a group notice inside SL when things are back on track (no pun intended) lol
Well now all I can do is sit back and await the arrival of the router….I have no other options left. I really don’t want to continue calling the ISP tech team or going on live chat with them, cos if I get asked to send another PIN, I am gonna scream!!! Honest!
After reading so many forums regarding the issue, it seems to be a hardware related. I would also like to thank brad Ohtobide of the excellent NeoStreams for all his time he spent with me yesterday carrying out tests and trying to come to a solution. Even moving my NeoStream to a Europe based one in the process. But alas, it didn’t make any difference no matter what we tried. So, new cables, new network card, wireless dongle, 3 pc’s, Win7, Win XP, Vista all showing same errors. Honestly, since Thursday, every possible things I can do this end has been done.
I want to just clarify that there is NO issues with NeoStreams. Connection is fine, as it always is. To prove the error wasn’t with NeoStreams, I tried another 2 companies. Same errors. I have been using NeoStreams for a couple of years on Second Life and never had any reason to doubt the service. Always flawless. And I really appreciate that Brad too time out of his busy schedule to try and help myself. Now it’s down to the ISP to do their bit.

WITS END!!!
Well, after a loooong talk with ISP, they swear everything is ok their end. However, I still have major issues streaming. At present, download speed is approx 13mb and upload 1mb. So speeds are not the issue. I have installed SAM on 3 PCs, XP, Vista and Win7…all having same encoder issues. Tried 3 separate streams from 3 different companies, all dropping! Firewalls off on PC and router etc. My head is burstin now! Been at this since 6am this morning and still no further forward.
So I have had to cancel tonight’s gig too. That’s 3 in a row!!! Oh not to mention I also tried Simplecast to see if that would help avoid using SAM’s in built encoders….well..nope! It drops them too! I GIVE UP!!!!!!!! I am at my wits end now. Not to mention I’m going bald with all the hair I have pulled out today!!!
The next stage is to either have my router replaced or just change ISP as they are not being very helpful at all now. Since they seem to think everything is ok their end. Well…they had issues on Thursday and it’s a bit weird how my problems started then too. 3 PCs, 3 fresh installs of SAM, 3 stream servers later…and still the same errors! Can’t be all 3 PCs at fault.
So yes, I am not left with many options. Will this be sorted for Mondays gig? Who knows…I shall type more dribble here I guess for those interested….
Oh and finally, yes I know the buttons atop this site are kinda in the wrong place….I shall sort that another day! GRRRR!
